The Ferret & Firkin | Patio | Spadina and Bloor | Play Pool | Toronto Annex | NTN

The Annex at Spadina and Bloor for darts, NTN, WiFi, pool and the patio

Closed - The Ferret & Firkin - Closed

Urgent:

Closure Update: July 7, 2010 - We have confirmed this location has closed and will not be re-opening under the Firkin banner. If this location does re-open with dartboards, we will let you know.

The Bar:

Part of the Firkin chain of restaurants, the Ferret is modelled after a traditional British pub and offers the standard English fare and drinks.

This traditional style pub is home to the University of Toronto crowd and also a reflection of Toronto's diverse community. The large heated patio provides a relaxing atmosphere after a busy class or day of work.

In addition to the 20 TVs spread throughout the pub, the back rooms are home to 6 dartboards, an 8 foot television, a foosball table and one of the best informal meeting rooms in the city. In the front you'll find a pool table to throw your loonie on.

The Dart Area:

There is a total of 6 boards in the back of the pub - 2 playable boards in the first back room and 4 in the second. The unobstructed view of the area provides the darters with a sense of privacy while at the same time not closing them off to the rest of the pub. The servers are dart-friendly and are always prepared to provide you with all of your darting needs.

In fact, the second back room was the site of the very first King of the Hill tournament.

The Menu:

Every Firkin has a standard menu, with many locations serving additional items. The traditional menu includes full meal items such as Sheppard's Pie and Bangers and the Firkin Steak Sandwich. The Ferret feeds its customers their favourites by featuring ten daily specials that rotate throughout the week, including a number of vegetarian selections. A popular special is the Monday Madness Burger, which includes fries, and every Thursday and Sunday are "Wing Nights"!

Daily Specials:

Thursdays: 49 Cent Wings (5pm-Close)!
Fridays: Fish'n'Chips!
Saturdays: Cheap Wings for Raptors and Leaf Games!
Sundays: 49 Cent Wings (5pm-Close)!

Public Transit:

The Spadina streetcar will drop you off just south of the Firkin or you can go right to the Spadina subway station and walk south one block.

Driving Directions

Located on the south-east side of Toronto's "Annex" neighbourhood, the pub is located on the west side of Spadina Avenue, just south of Bloor Street. You can take the Bloor-Danforth or University subway lines to Spadina station and walk south one block or you can take the 401 to Bathurst, go south on Bathurst until you hit Bloor, and then go east on Bloor until you hit Spadina. Once at Spadina, simply turn right (south) and go one block until you see the Firkin on your right side (west).

Parking:

There is ample paid parking directly behind the pub and along Spadina Avenue as well. Rates max out at about $6.00 so you'll know that your vehicle is safe and that you won't be ticketed!

The Dart Action:

There are currently two dart teams playing out of the Ferret from the Queen Street Dart League and it isn't uncommon to find players from either team practicing on off nights. Mondays are a tradition here as domestic draft beer is discounted and the wings are always not only cheap, but amazingly good, too! Drop in and play with some of the regulars. With 6 boards, there's lot of room.
