The Establishment:

Under new ownership, this restaurant and bar - just off of Bloor West Village - is nothing like the smoky pool halls of yesterday, inhabited by hustlers such as Fast Eddie Felson or Minnesota Fats. These days it's a wholesome, all-ages operation with 2 distinct areas of interest: pool and snooker, and darts. Add several sofas to relax on while watching your favourite sporting event and you have a new neighbourhood local to call your own.

A short walk or (even shorter) bus ride from the Jane Subway station - and across the street from the renowned Baby Point area of Toronto - On Cue Billiards is run by the friendly and approachable Rich who is busy putting his own stamp on the premises. As Rich warmly states, "establishments such as his own are all about the relationships that you develop with the people who come". Truer words have never been spoken and you will be made to feel quite welcome immediately upon entering.

On Cue's commitment to the community is also evident as local artists are invited to display their work on the lounge walls. As if this wasn't enough, proceeds from all of the pool tables each and every Monday are also donated to a local charity. If you're an artist or musician and would like to find out more, give Rich a call during their hours of operation at 416.913.2995 and he'll be more than happy to speak with you about it.

On Cue Billiards is definitely a place for you and a guest to try out for a relaxed and mature evening. Try it once and we're certain that you'll be back again!

The Dart Area:

Set on its own with a waist-high counter to ensure privacy, the dart area has 2 dartboards with lots of space and no outside traffic to disrupt your throw. Dart leagues could easily field teams here and there are plenty of things to keep you busy between matches.

The Dart Action:

Taking up the slack for "The Fan", which closed mid-2008, there are about a dozen locals who call this their new dart home with about 10 or so regulars throwing arrows on Mondays for fun. If you are a beginning darter and would rather play more for fun than for money, come out on Monday evenings and meet the regular players who play for the joy of the game.

And don't worry about not having your own darts: on Cue has many sets on reserve that you can borrow while you're there! Try a few different sets and you might find something that suits your throwing style.

There is also a Nodor Champion's Choice practice board available for people to use. This board has double and triple areas half the size of a regular board for building targeting skills and accuracy and is a must for up-and-coming players to use on a regular basis.

If you are interested in meeting new people while having a bit of fun, come on out and have a great time!

The Pool Area:

On Cue Billiards features 9 billiard and pool tables of various sizes: 5 hand-refurnished 8-ball tables, 2 classic American snooker tables, and two full-sized snooker tables.

One table even boasts the famed "Simonis" cloth for improved accuracy and precision and there are even 3 classic "Brunswick" tables that, despite having been built over 50 years ago, are as 'true' today as the day they were made.

With 2 pool leagues playing here each week, there is almost always a chance to come out and find a friendly match with someone.

Weekly "all you can play" pool specials:

Mondays: $10 from 4pm to 12am
Tuesdays: $10 from 4pm to 12am

The Menu:

Offering favourites such as homemade Varenyky Ukrainian perogies, personal made-to-order pizzas and Fajitas, there's no need to go anywhere else. Priced well within reason - and especially so when you consider the typically higher prices that neighbourhood restaurants tend to be charging - this can be a complete "night-out".

Also available are real, old-school Nachos that come with tons of melted cheese, salsa and sour cream. A generous heap of meat can be added as an option and for those of you with a hankering for chicken wings, they've got those too.

And we won't even tell you that they're the tastiest wings in the area!

Public Transit:

Go to the Jane subway station along the Bloor line and either walk 5 minutes north or take the #35 Jane bus north to Annette. The bar is less than 1 block south of Annette.

Driving Directions

If you are coming from the 401, take Jane Street south all the way down. Once you pass Annette you can look for a parking spot right on Jane Street.

Parking:

Parking is currently available right on Jane Street for free (daily from 6:00pm to 7:00am) and you can always find a spot on one of the sidestreets nearby if need be. Be sure to read the posted signs for specifics, however - no one wants you to get a ticket!
