Congrats to the New King of the Hill Cricket (#3) Jesse Davis

Added: Jan 16, 2011
I think Saturday's Cricket action was some of the best I have ever seen. Apart from the fact the Final 8 was populated by 6 Durham players (there are some great shots out there), this was an extremely tough field that left more than one veteran player shaking their heads - win or lose.

Kudos to Jeff Smith (above left) on the day. Although he didn't win, he looked like the man to beat going into the Round of 16, seemingly hitting counts of 5 and 7 at will.

In the end it was Durham's Jesse Davis taking top spot and the right to now call himself Cricket King of the Hill. Congrats Jesse. All of a sudden you're on the radar!

Newfoundland Darter Throws a Perfect Game

Congrats to Newfoundland darter Bill St.Croix on hitting the Ultimate in the sport - a 9-dart 501.

The long-time local player and 2009 Team Newfoundland and Labrador player accomplished this feat in regular Premier league play last week just outside St. John's Newfoundland.

Having taken up the game seriously 3 years ago, we encourage Bill to carry on and see just how far his talent takes him. Read more at CanadaDarts.com »»»

PDC - London, Ontario, Report - 2010

Added: August 29, 2010
PDC London Ontario 2010 Report Sunday

Colin "Jaws" Lloyd wins the Sunday PDC London event, the Canadian Masters Players Championship, denying Saturday's winner Jamie Caven back-to-back victories. Opening his day by narrowly missing a 9-darter, "Jaws" served notice he was a serious contender on the day. Facing the previous day's winner Jamie Caven in the final, Lloyd's strong play continued and he breezed to an easy 6-1 victory.

Saturday

Congrats to Jamie Caven on his winning his 3rd PDC Pro Tour Title in London, Ontario Saturday at the PDC Canadian Championship in a 6-4 victory over Michael van Gerwen.
With more PDC pros attending this year's event than previous years, it wasn't long before the entire Canadian contingent was eliminated from the running as both John Part and Bob Sinnaeve were bested in their Round of 32 match ups.

Southern Ontario darters John Morrison and Dave Watson both fell to Caven in the early rounds, while van Gerwen took out Paul Addison in the Round of 64 on their way to meeting in the final.

Sunday will also see some terrific dart action as the second major event - the Canadian Masters Players Championship - goes live around noon. Dennis Priestly, who won the Australian Open Players Championship last week, is the current 2-time winner of this event.

Let's improve darts in Canada

Less than a month ago we started a Facebook group we thought would be a small effort to help grow darts in this country and called it "The Big Push For Darts in Canada". As of the beginning of June the group had 1,290 members, making it the largest Canadian Dart Group in Facebook history! We thank all those who joined the movement and for all their efforts at spreading the word. As you can see from the graphic, we've chosen a website for the movement, but it's not up yet, and probably won't be until early July.

The Big Push For Darts in Canada

Updated: May 7, 2010
Let's improve darts in Canada

We've just started a new Facebook page called: The Big Push For Darts in Canada.

If you have a Facebook page we would like you to join. Our goal is to get 5,000 folks to join so we can create a lobby group to improve darts in this country. Apart from having darts declared a spot, something the NDFC has been behind for a couple of years now, let's get more people out playing.

This is an important subject for every dart player in this country. With venues closing down and fewer and fewer dart players in the big cities, we're going to have to make an effort to keep this sport alive and grow it.

So let's start the discussion at the grassroots and start by getting enough players who care about the sport to show their hands and join this group.

Bill Laimbeer - 4-Time NBA All-Star Visits a Toronto Darts Singles Shoot !

Updated: January 14, 2010

When you advertise on the web that you're running a singles shoot and invite people to drop in, you just never know who might show up.

We had a visit recently from 4-time NBA All-Star and current Minnesota Timberwolves coach Bill Laimbeer.

We were surprised to find one of the original "Bad Boys" of basketball has a soft spot for darts, and likes to find a good game while on the road.

Here he is posing with one of our Monday players, Alan Tremaine, at the Ferret & Firkin.
